Generic pharmaceuticals - A comprehensive portfolio
Teva

providers, large pharmacy chains, wholesalers and other large-scale buyers.
Teva Pharmaceuticals USA, the company's wholly-owned American subsidiary, is
the jewel in the crown of Teva's international efforts in the generic
pharmaceuticals arena and one of the most successful manufacturers and
distributors of generic drugs in the U.S. Teva USA is an integral part of Teva
North America which encompasses the USA and Canada. The company's impressive
line offers the discerning American consumer an extensive portfolio of
competitively priced products in diverse dosage forms. In 2004, Teva acquired
Sicor which combined Teva's capabilities and knowledge in the solid dose
generic drug franchise with Sicor's expertise in generic injectables.
Teva's forays into the European market include the acquisitions of the
Dutch industry heavyweight Pharmachemie B.V., Teva Pharmaceuticals Germany GmbH
(formerly GRY-Pharm), Teva UK Limited (formerly APS/Berk) in the UK, Teva
Pharmaceutical Works Ltd. in Hungary (formerly Biogal) and others. Through
these acquisitions, Teva has successfully established a broad network of
subsidiaries across Europe, each attuned to the specific needs of its local
customer base.
In 2006, Teva acquired IVAX which expanded product lines
in generics, including a significant respiratory business, and a rich pipeline
of generic and proprietary products in the areas of respiratory, CNS and
oncology. The company will now offer the widest range of cost-effective
pharmaceuticals, both generic and branded, to consumers, customers, and
healthcare providers.
Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients
In
addition to the production and sale of finished pharmaceutical products, Teva
is a large manufacturer and provider of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients, the
vital raw materials of the drug manufacturing industry. In addition to
supplying a major share of Teva's own needs, the API division is an active
competitor in world markets, investing both in the development of new products
and manufacturing processes and in the upgrading of production facilities. It
also provides an essential link in Teva's strategic marketing chain. The
division often spearheads the company's entry into new drug markets, providing
a cost effective source of materials with which to commence local manufacturing
and establishing viable distribution channels.
TEVA UK Limited
The 70-year
history of TEVA UK Limited has two consistent themes. A single-minded focus on
generics. And a determination to grow: to grow our abilities, our products, our
service.
As Approved Prescription Services (APS), the company's name and
reputation stretch back to the 1930s and the development and production of
saccharin tablets. The early fifties saw three employees and two other backers
buy the company, which was acquired by Rhone Poulenc in 1989. Berk, a success
in its own right selling a range of branded and unbranded generics, merged with
APS in 1991, creating one of the largest generic companies in the UK . This was
the company acquired in 1996 by TEVA Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd.
TEVA is among the top 25 pharmaceutical companies in the world, and
undoubtedly the biggest in generic products. All the advantages of speed,
choice, quality and cost that TEVA represents to our many customers across the
UK led us to change our name in 2004 from APS Berk to, simply, TEVA UK Limited:
a shorthand for the best service traditions of APS Berk and the powerful global
resources of TEVA.
TEVA UK Limited package and market one of the widest
ranges of generic products in the UK . We offer generic products in all major
therapeutic areas in a variety of dosage forms, from tablets and capsules to
ointments, creams, liquids and injectables. From our headquarters in Morley
near Leeds, we deliver direct to customers through our wholesaler partners.
Since 1998, our Hampden Park facility in Eastbourne has been a Centre of
Excellence for Packaging. The investment in this Centre allowed us to be the
first generic supplier to convert our range into patient packs.
The
logic behind this expanding range of products and pack sizes allows us to meet
the needs of all our customers: from community pharmacists and dispensing
doctors to hospital pharmacies. It gives you a single authoritative and well
resourced source for the vast majority of your generics needs.
Having
the resources of TEVA behind us mean we are well placed to add to this range on
